The Story… So Far
J Peter Boles – Singer / Songwriter / Storyteller
|[Peter] “has a strong clear voice, up there with Gordon Lightfoot, John Stewart and the other folk hot guys”. . . L.A. Times / Bill Locey, Music Reviewer“
a warm, sensuous harmonica that always seemed to be in the right place at the right time” . . . Anchorage Times
J Peter has been described as a “Blue Collar Iconoclast,” whose music was molded by his life as an Alaska wilderness gold prospector, oil field roughneck, actor, & more. The Ojai Valley, CA. based singer/songwriter is redefining the traditions of the bards of old. Peter chronicles his life of travel and adventure with a poet’s touch.
His varied vocal styles, versatile picking, & bluesy harmonica entwine to cross over genres, creating his seamless blend of folk/country/bluegrass/blues.
[Peter’s] “clear baritone … delivers the stories born of his travels.” . . . Strawberry Music Festival
Among his main influences are John Prine, Guy Clark, Doc Watson, Townes VanZandt, and the Delta blues men.
On his self-titled album, Peter takes the listener from a mountaintop bathed in Alaskan moonlight to the “Tides” of the California Pacific – the culmination of over 30 years on the road.
In his 30 years of performing, Peter has played clubs & concert venues from Anchorage to Austin, and from the Arctic Ocean to the Hawaiian Islands. He has warmed up crowds for George Thorogood, Commander Cody, Marshall Tucker Band, Eddie Rabbitt, Helen Reddy, Billy C. Farlow, and the Texas Tornados. He has also appeared on main stage at Yosemite, CA’s Strawberry Music Festival.
